Hi guys and welcome to the last TAAU newsletter of the year!

2003 has been absolutely amazing for Transformers, with a barrage of excellent lines and releases coming at us from all directions: reissues, Armada, Heroes of Cybertron, MyClones, Smallest Transformers, Energon, Universe, new and old cartoon series, comics, computer games, and, most stunning of all, Alternators. It's been hard to keep up, but let's face it, we wouldn't have it any other way, so on behalf of everyone at TAAU, a big thank you and a very Merry Christmas to Hasbro, Takara, Dreamwave, Madman Entertainment and Atari for keeping our dreams and childhoods alive.

Thanks also go to all the amazing people at TAAU for making this such a great place to be a part of; you are reason I continue with this project and, after all, toys wouldn't be half as fun if you couldn't share them with like-minded people!

I hope you all have a very happy, enjoyable and safe holiday, and before I go I'd like to leave you with a quote which I think is quite fitting for all of us here, so have fun and see you in 2004!

VOICES OF ENERGON PRIME AND MEGATRON REVEALED

Ben Yee from BWTF.com has informed the Transfan community that Garry Chalk will again voice the Autobot leader in the new Transformers series, Energon. Also, according to Ben, voice production on Energon started early in the first week of December.

Chalk last voiced the heroic Autobot leader in Transformers Armada before being called upon to voice Energon Prime. However, the question that needs to be asked is: “Can even the talent of Garry Chalk save the reputation of Energon Optimus from the humiliation of being known primarily as ‘Fatimus Prime’ in the Transfan community”?

In other Energon TV news, it has been confirmed that David Kaye will once again voice Prime's evil arch nemesis, Megatron. This will the fourth time Megatron has been voiced by Kaye.

MEATBEE RELEASE THEIR FIRST EP

Meatbee, the Canberra-based band who ventured into the limelight a few months back when Triple J aired their acoustic version of the Transformers theme song have been hard at work in the recording studio again, this time producing their very first self-titled EP, 'Meatbee'. The disc features their cover of the Transformers cartoon theme song, plus two original tracks called 'Dogs' and 'Transformers'.

Meatbee launched the EP at the Holy Grail in Civic on Thursday December 18th, and the disc can be purchased online at Impact Records right here.

I interviewed the band in issue 2 of the TAAU newsletter, so if you missed it, check it out here

WORLD'S SEXIEST TRANSFORMER V2.0

"Could this be the sexiest Transformer in the world?" - Custom TAAU homepage image, Stephen Jesson, July 2003

That was the question asked when the first pictures of Smokescreen were revealed to us. You know Smokescreen, that oh-so-sexy Subaru Imprezza WRC rally car which is due to hit Australia next month. Well he's being followed up by another Subaru, this time a WRX model called Silversteak (or BT-03 Streak as he will be released by Takara Japan).

SNEAK PEEKS AND RECENT RELEASES

With Christmas only a stone's throw away, it wouldn't hurt to get just a teeny, tiny peek at some of the toys we'll all be hoping to see in our stockings this year now would it? Well, Hasbro and Takara both released a slew of pictures for some of their hottest figures recently, so let's get our juices flowing by checking out all the photo galleries below:

POPULATION OVERLOAD

It’s over. Armada has finished in the UK and the US. That’s it, done, no more. As I wipe the sweat from my brow I breathe a sigh of relief: I’m finally rid of those bothersome kids and can now look towards the new series of Energon with a new vigour and hope beyond hope that the powers that be have learnt the error of their ways... yet, what’s this I see? No, it’s not possible? Is it? Yes it is.

They are back. Alexis, Rad and Carlos are reprising their roles in Energon, however they won’t be bothersome kids and they won’t be the only ones representing the human race.

TAAU MEMBER INTERVIEW 001: GHAZRAT

Welcome to a brand new section in the all new-and-improved TAAU newsletter: member interviews!

That's right, we're going to interview a random TAAU member each issue in an effort to get to know all of you a little bit better, and who should be the first under Perceptor's microscope but our very own Ghazrat!

So turn off Entertainment Tonight, set fire to your copy of New Idea, and relax, because this is where the action is:

TAAU CHRISTMAS LIST: TRANSFORMERS VERSUS COAL

As the snow softly drifts down to create a thick blanket on the ground and the frost builds up on the window pains, we see the children huddle closer to the fire with their milk and cookies, high on the feeling that soon it will be Christmas day.

Yes, its true, Christmas is upon us once again, however this is Australia, so forget the snow! It’s sun, surf, cricket and cicadas here. Plus, I know that many adults are just as excited about Christmas as the kids are, because along with the spirit of Christmas we also have these wonderful little things called presents, and what better present could you give to your special Transformer fan than something Transformer related!

We at TAAU are making a list checking it twice so you can find the perfect gift/s for your fanatical boyfriend, obsessed girlfriend or faultless kids, bringing a smile to their faces while hopefully easing your shopping experience. So here it is in no particular order:

THE GREATEST HERO OF THEM ALL: OPTIMUS PRIME (PART 1)

When you talk Transformers with a fellow Transfan, you don't have any problems, however when you speak to someone who's not into them, they often stare at you blankly, not knowing what the fudge you're on about.

Until you mention Optimus Prime that is.

That's when their eyes light up and they go "Oh yeah, I remember him! The semi-truck that changed into a robot, man those things were cool! I grew up on them!"

So what is it about Optimus Prime that generates such stirrings in someone who either hasn't heard of Transformers, or barely remembers them? To put it simply, it is because he was the greatest hero of them all. Forget Action Man and all his Barbie influenced clothing variations, Optimus Prime was - and still is - the leading action toy/character ever made.

INTERNET GAMING AND TRANSFORMERS UNITE (PART 1)

A new breed of Autobots and Decepticons are waging war against each other on their home planet of Seibertron. Thousands of bots are once again taking up arms and fighting in missions - where up to 10 bots unleash punishment on each other - and also in arenas where there can be only one winner, and they are doing this all in the name of… Internet gaming?!

Yes, that’s right, the game is called 'Heavy Metal War' and has been operational since June, 2003 at Seibertron.com, and, owing to its sheer addictiveness, has taken most of the Transformers community by storm.

SMOKESCREEN SHIPS

Good news people! Hasbro told me this week that Alternator Smokescreens have apparently 'left the building', en route to a retailer near you! It is unlikely that you'll see them on the shelves before new year though as they're tagged for the January catalogues, but hey, you never know!
GOD GINRAI FOR AU$20

Hobby Link Japan
have further reduced their excess God Ginrai stock (Powermaster Optimus Prime), slashing them from AU$100 to a crazy AU$20! That's a saving of around 80%, and so, combined with shipping, you could have this excellent figure delivered to your front door for only $40AU, which is a huge saving. So if you haven't got him already, we advise you treat yourselves to a late Christmas present and pick one up, as at that price, you just can't go wrong!
YOUR EXPERIENCES

Do you know of an up-coming event which you think Transformers fans would enjoy? Are you planning on going to one and would like to have your pictures and an article about the day displayed online, for the whole world to see?

Do you know when any Transformers™ cartoon series' will be airing in Australia, on either terrestrial, satellite or cable networks?

Have you recently bought an item from eBay just to have it arrive in pieces, or not as described? Maybe you're a seller who can't get your buyer to answer your emails or pay you? Or perhaps you've bought something from another online store and are not happy?

If the answer is yes to any of the above then send an email and let us know!
